Tabloid Paige

Ok- playing around with the title, which I always want to be the same when it comes to what I am doing. So I am going to try it on for this week and see how it fits. Feel free to shoot me an opinion if you think I will find it helpful.

This week on the homefront we spent an extra day (because of the holiday) taking care of midshipmen who hang out at our house. I'm not sure if I have mentioned it, but we have 5 college kids who go to the Naval Academy who need a place to go to on the weekend that doesn't involve their super rigorous school. Everyone needs a break. So they come and stay with us. We provide beds, food and sometimes entertainment in the form of boating, game playing and movies. Other than that, they go out and do things on their own like shop, play golf and hang out with other friends.

This weekend, all their parents are coming in to visit them in an official capacity. They are attending class with them. eating in the dining hall, watching a formal parade and attending a football game. And of course, they will all be coming over the house and checking out where their kids spends a lot of time! ha!

So, in preparation of all this fun, I have not been as arty.

What is in my sketchbook this week

I find a ton of inspiring images online and if I like it a lot, I will make a quick drawing of it in my sketchbook. From there I decide if I'm actually going to paint it. My paintings are hardly recognizable from my drawings below- but it is a good starting point for me. I am really like the hair braids.

What is floating my boat this week

Last week I mentioned buying the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and let me say, it is quite a compelling read. I am trying to hold myself back from reading the whole thing in hours because I am building up to a book club discussion in October and I want the story to be fresh on my mind. It is a lot to take in also. 5/5 stars

TV Show- I know I am probably the only person on the planet who has not watched The Office but that is changing now. I have watched the first season (3 stars) and have started the 2nd season which is better. I am gearing up to read a book written by 2 of the actors from the show. There are only 4 seasons that are free via Peacock so I may stop after that. We will see how I feel when the 4th season ends.

Podcast - Gutsy Health. I could listen to podcasts about health and food all day long. Yes, I know, I'm weird.

What I bought on Amazon [links are affiliate and I might get something for my extra work- thanks for playing along]

Thank you Amazon for saving me hours of time of going to many different stores and adding HOURS back to my life. Last minute decided we needed at add another bed to our busy household and we have purchased several mattresses from Amazon. Love every one of them. Here is the one to get.

Needed to another TV blanket into our mix and this one feels minky on one side and sherpa-like on the other. The colors are great also.

I like to a new game every once in a while to the mix and Taboo is a fun one. It gets loud when we play.

What's On My ADD Brain

I will say that when I am busy, it doesn't have much time to stray. It's not being super busy that is dangerous for me. But this week I acted on something I mentioned on my last post. I wanted to start something for cookbook collectors AND I DID!

I started a new Webpage, Instagram and FB page dedicated to fellow cookbook collectors who use them not only to cook from but as a form of entertainment. Just because I buy a cookbook doesn't necessarily mean I will cook from it, but I am going to change that. I will select a cookbook and actually cook a couple of recipes and share it. I am also going to do deep dives into cooking topics on my Instagram. This week I did one about the world's first known cookbook. Check it out if you have time.

The rest of my brain is tied up with the activities that I have to pull off this weekend. I love entertaining and I have quite the opportunity this weekend with tailgating and a home gathering.
