I still haven't thought of a catchy or witty name for what I am doing here. To be fair, I haven't thought about it very much. It shall come in time I suppose. I didn't post anything last week because I will be the first to admit that when some asks if I would like to do something- I'll drop everything and go. I am all about being out and about versus behind a computer.
I also got the opportunity to give a tour nearly everyday last week at the Naval Academy. The tours are 1.5 hours and we walk around the campus where I get to point out the highlights and tell stories about our heros of the past. I also get to show them the day and the life of current midshipmen. I find myself taking pictures on campus because it is beautiful and living in Annapolis can be dreamy (when its not 105 degrees and 1000% humidity). I also really like meeting people from all over the world--- it has always been my thing.
It has also helped with the loss of my travel business after Covid. I am back in the hospitality business and I really do love it. And the people I deal with are always really thankful. It is nice.

The midshipmen who live with me on the weekends and inbetween assignments have all been in and out of the house this week. This also keeps everything very active here and my grocery shopping
Paintings I've worked on this week.

What went down in my sketchbook
I have been playing with color for the last couple of weeks. Its one of those things that you think everyone would know- but not true. Using paint straight out of the container is not for me and I like mixing my own colors. The only way to get good at it is to practice and see what colors resonate. From all my previous paintings, you can tell that I really like the blues and greens. I try to mix it up a bit. But anything that looks like an Carribean Ocean or the color of water on a globe- I am all about it. I call my magic color Atlas.

What is rocking my face off this week
PeakChari - Go follow her. She paints female faces prolifically and it is really fun to watch. When she was getting close to 1.000 faces painted I watched with abated breath as she blew passed that milestone with no celebration (except from me privately). I love her stuff.

Katja Leibenath - Go follow her. I love the simplicity of her work and yet they stop me in my tracks. I want to be more like this! But everytime I try simplicity with my own hand, I hate it. It never feels right, so I will keep dreaming when I admire others.

What is floating my boat this week (none of this is sponsored)
Paramount - Yellowstone - we quickly watched the first two seasons years ago and then we slowed down. This last week we couldn't help ourselves and quickly finished season 3 and moved on to 4.
Book- Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins. I have been listening to this via Audible which I highly recommend because he talks at the end of each chapter in podcast/radio style with the person who is reading it. It's pretty motivating.
No podcast reccs this week becuase I really haven't spent any time listening to any.
What I bought on Amazon (haha- I buy way too much)
Just Mercy---- so far so good. I've watched the movie a couple years ago and the author worked for Equal Justice Inaitive, which is the only FB fundraiser that I have ever raised money for and I was proud to do it. I find our "for profit" jail system insane and hugely unfair and I don't understand why we don't fix it. Most humans are saveable, we just have to give them a chance.

And a pickleball net! DUH!!! I got some paddles and balls for my birthday so now the net will finish off what is about to go down in my driveway. Anyone game?

Whats On My ADD Brain
I want to paint on jeans. It's a thing and I think some geared towards the Naval Academy would be fun. I also think it would be fun to paint florals and have a bunch of paint splashes. I always think of ideas that take time which I don't have a lot of these days.
Also, I LOVE cookbooks. Some things have happened in the last week where I thought about sharing my love for cookbooks on a social media platform. I am still thinking about what it would like and the idea has definitely evolved. I think it may happen soon.
Until next time. Ciao Friends!
